About Abstract Ice

Abstract Ice is the largest craft ice company in the United States, producing 90,000 to 100,000 pieces of crystal-clear cocktail ice every day at four plants - Petaluma, California (its headquarters), Forest City, North Carolina, San Mateo, California and Portland, Oregon - and supplying bars, restaurants, hotels and events in all 50 states. Founded in 2018 by former Lagunitas Brewing Company executives Todd Stevenson and Leon Sharyon, the company holds six issued patents across ten patent families, with further filings in the United States and internationally, on a process that freezes perfectly clear, dense ice in hours instead of days. Its clear ice cubes, spheres, towers, shapes, sports balls and custom etched ice are sold in 422 grocery, wine and liquor stores across 16 states and Washington, D.C. - including Meijer, Total Wine & More, Pavilions, Vons, Albertsons, Safeway, Giant Eagle, Bristol Farms, Busch's, Sendik's and Zupan's - and delivered to homes through Delivered Cold.

Founded 2018 · 100,000 pieces a day · 4 plants · 422 retail stores · All 50 states · 6 issued patents, 10 patent families

Conventional craft ice is cut by hand from 300-pound blocks that take three days to freeze, a few hundred pieces at a time. Abstract Ice engineered and patented a system that freezes crystal-clear, dense ice in a few hours, so every piece is identical and made at a scale no block-cutting operation can match: 450,000 to 500,000 pieces a week. The ice is made from purified water in facilities certified by the International Packaged Ice Association (IPIA), the food-safety standard for packaged ice, sealed in trays at the plant and shipped frozen. The Petaluma facility runs on 100% renewable Sonoma Clean Power.
